So, Welcome to The Daily Buzz, Yellow Scribe’s daily writer’s blog. We’re here to help you write and most importantly – publish that book! Through this article, I will be highlighting everything about fiction, comprising of its five genres.
Fiction means something that refuses to follow the reality! In fiction, you are free to use your imagination and frame awesome stories, by involving as much creativity as you desire. However, there is an exception to the rule. Though, fiction doesn’t pertain to reality, the story line shouldn’t be completely aberrant. In short, the characters and the story could be fictitious but the incidences that occur throughout, should be acceptable! For instance, if you choose to weave an incident as, “He was stabbed viciously and thrown into a water body, but yet he managed to swim back to the shore!” sounds extremely ironic and unreal. Thus, fiction should exist in the story and characters and not in the incidences that form it!
Now let us discuss the Five Genres of fiction through a step by step approach.
One of my favourite genres, to be honest. Fantasy could pertain to supernatural elements, fairies, mythological characters, and any other thing whose existence in reality has no particular evidence. Since, this is a completely fantasized version of fiction, you need not worry to frame the incidences that would pertain to reality. Feel free to weave any type of incident whatsoever, because nobody has ever witnessed the functioning of these elements!
Historical fiction transports readers to another time and place, either real or imagined. Writing this genre requires a balance of creativity and research. While it often includes real people and events, the genre offers a fiction writer many opportunities to tell a wholly unique story! Thus, this type of fiction could be based on historical topics like the Jurassic era! Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?
Contemporary fiction consists of stories rooted in reality (that could actually happen) but the characters are fictionalized. For instance, it focusses on problems like divorce, a new sibling or teen issues. In short, it continues to remain fictitious because of the character names but the stories remain real and completely relatable! Sounds fun, doesn’t it? Give it a try, and publish your contemporary fiction book with Yellow Scribe!
Another one of my favourites. This is an interesting genre wherein you arouse and keep adjusting the suspense factor throughout the story. Here, the characters as well as the story remain fictitious, but the occurrence of incidences needs to be acceptable. The suspense factor needs to be born from reliable sources of information! However, it depends on what type of mystery you choose! There is fictitious mystery as that of a disappearing man or slender man and there is some based on reality including murder mystery and others. So, choose your genre and topics wisely!
Science fiction deals with imaginative and futuristic concepts such as advanced science and technology, space exploration, time travel, parallel universes and extraterrestrial life. So, here your characters as well as the story line remains fictitious but you incorporate scientific elements into the story including aliens, robots and what not! Interested? Start writing, right away and send us your manuscript!
This is all about fiction, in order to help you choose your favourite genre and encourage you to begin writing! Wait no more! Which is your favourite genre among these? Let us not waste any more time by suppressing our writing skills and the profound creativity we possess!
Thus, I would conclude stating that fiction shall always include the concept of ‘unreal’ which is quite observant in all of the above genres! No matter, what genre you pick, ensure that your storyline completely fits into it. You don’t want people to admonish your work, right? So, be vigilant and frame your story accurately!
Happy Writing! 🙂
