“Being business minded requires you to always approach things with humility and respect.”

- Strive Masiyiwa

Welcome to The Daily Buzz, Yellow Scribe’s daily writer’s blog. We’re here to help with Branding, Marketing, and Building of your precious company.

We are by now familiar with two types of approaches which are of course, positive and negative but we miss out on another important one within the positive approach, the one that very subtly lets a wee bit of negativity drift in so that something positive can happen. Let us name it the Pogative Approach that uses negativity to make something positive occur in business. For instance, cheating with the delivery of your services to get a surplus is a good example of this approach. Thus, the point to be highlighted is that most businessmen resort to the Pogative Approach and assign it the positive tag. However, this approach isn’t acceptable in business owing to the fact that it has the capacity to damage your reputation which may only break the chain of regular customers and as stated in the earlier articles, you don’t want to compromise with the regular ones because they have the power to fetch you a new queue of customers through feedback. Thus, businessmen must shun the myopic perspective and have an agile future vision.

Before inaugurating your business on a large scale, it is better to begin as an entrepreneur because a bigger company comes with reputed customers and you don’t want to deal with them without any previous practice. You don’t want to mortify yourself by not being able to impart those perfect customer service skills. You don’t want a bad image owing to lack of expertise. That’s exactly why, we move from basics to advanced level of expertise because as the saying goes, Practice makes Perfect. Thus, practicality comes into handy as it lends us a helping hand towards the topsy turvy business route. Everything in life surely has stages. So, a company owner must have run errands or worked as an entrepreneur which is essential as it helps us understand whether or not we are interested in business. It can be considered the first stage. Many a times, after going through this basic stage, a person realizes that business isn’t his piece of cake, which eventually helps him back off and prevent future losses!

When customers come into the picture, businessmen have to adopt an emotional approach. Though, it may be a lipstick of sham that feeling needs to reach and penetrate deeply in the customers’ heart so that they feel impressed and prefer you yet again in the future. This is what constitutes customer service. However, instead of pretending to be emotional, it is advisable to be true to your feelings and respecting each and every customer who trusts you with their hard earned money. You don’t want to dupe them by showing a ruthless image that can never be dropped in the near future since First Impression is the Last Impression as we all know. Of course, you aren’t expected to have deep rooted loving emotions for each and every customer, but you surely must possess those ethics that dislocate your intentions of betraying them through lack of commitment. In short, emotions and ethics share a close relation which makes adopting the emotional approach mandatory since every customer matters.

Every business is a convenient spot for customers thus, expecting variety in conveniences is acceptable. Thus, one should adopt a flexible approach that welcomes all sorts of services to the society so that customers feel satisfied enough to approach you. For instance, if your business includes website designing then make sure you incorporate all sorts of web related activities. You too want a variety of sources that fetch you income, don’t you? Thus, don’t adopt a rigid approach and remember to remain open to the market trends as you digest new services in. Flexibility also comes into limelight when you are expected to fine tune your services. Don’t be rigid with the manner of your services and try streamlining them with new facilities each and every time, as the market trends transform! As we all know, we can either introduce new services or evolve convenient features in the existing one to make it look like a new service. Thus, both of these require a broad based mindset which accepts feedbacks be they in the form of criticism and takes these in a positive manner to enhance the quality of ones services.

Let us understand all of these approaches through a short story. Let us imagine a company selling children’s wear. The owner before beginning this business had been working as an entrepreneur and stitched pretty garments at home which received great demand later. Thus, it helped the owner evolve into a huge business since she had gained some expertise in customer handling and felt the need to occupy a bigger platform for herself. Customers receive a warm attitude that doesn’t back in pleasing them which lures them all the more. She stitches garments even better than the customer demands, which obviously melts them. They pledge to choose her always because the love mixed with the services clearly touches the customers’ heart. It’s been a year or so, she surveyed some people who informed her that including ladies wear could help which she flexibly considers with a positive approach and tries her hand on this new endeavor. She effectively learns the same and drags attention of women on a large scale after 6 months owing to the efforts she puts into perfectly constructing those beautiful garments with unique patterns that every lady feels eager to try out. In short, dedicated and flexible approach that accepts feedback helped her succeed and have a huge business. After ladies wear, she tried incorporating teen wear and this variety gained wider public admiration. In short, one mustn’t hesitate in introducing new services or trying hands on multiple ones so that success touches our feet!

“A business oriented mind can never be dry. It’s a field that forever bears crops of creativity!”

- The Laconic Writer

Welcome to The Daily Buzz, Yellow Scribe’s daily writer’s blog. We’re here to help with Branding, Marketing, and Building of your precious company.

After extensively discussing business in our earlier articles, let us have a testing article that allows you to judge whether or not your mind is business oriented.

Business has always been a fascinating endeavour except the fact that you are money driven and aren’t quite enjoying the business you are in. Yes, if you are a business minded person then you would enjoy the processes you go through to make a surplus and not be driven simply by the end goal- money! For instance, you are an eatery and your business seems to be racing. However, the ingredients of your recipes include love, patience, and immense passion that amalgamate into providing the best possible vibes to it. Thus, the process of getting to the surplus is enjoying the creation and delivery of your services while money gets to you later. After all, the customer needs to be satisfied with your services which involves you having proficiency in your tasks.

Impressing Customers!

Every business surely has a competition and thus, a business minded person knows how to deal with the same. He is well versed in befriending the competition in such a way so as to not get caught red handed spying on their services. Though, our motto isn’t to spy and steal their services but we surely have to, for inspiration which can drive us forward. Thus, a business oriented person knows how to spy and work for his benefit while ensuring good relations with the victims!

Strategically Using Competitors!

The mob out there is essential for understanding the value of our company on the basis of their demands. Thus, if you are a true business lover and haven’t restricted your business to buying and selling, you would take the best of efforts in surveying people regarding their demands before introducing services for your company. In short, it’s all about considering that true business runs with the people and not ahead of them. It’s all about pondering that a business is simply a convenient platform for the mob to which they can turn, in case of ‘desire emergency.’

Market Segmentation- Dividing People On The Basis Of Demand!

A business lover doesn’t indulge into malpractices because when money and profit become the only goal in business, the owner can’t shun the thought of deceit. That’s exactly why, a true business lover wouldn’t want to indulge in such practices and damage the reputation of his beloved company. Also, he would value his customers and put himself in their shoes considering that as we feel satisfied with proper discharge of services and deeply fall in love with that ‘worth a penny’ investment, similar is the case with our customers. Thus, your job is to keep your customers happy which makes you a loyal businessman, enough to create an attractive repute of your company!

A business lover uses his competition as inspiration or stepping stones to success and not as enemies who should be overrun or overtaken. Just because your competition indulges into the same level of business as you, doesn’t make them your enemies. The fact that they might get more customers is something that scares people. But a thing we miss out on is that the way you discharge your services is all that matters and attracts people towards you. A business oriented person would thus, carry a broad outlook and understand that more conveniences and facilities or variety in your services would attract customers. This too, can happen when your relations with your competitors are in good books and the policy of overturning them and wrestling them to the ground isn’t your agenda! These competitors can teach you a lot and help you succeed. Signing the pact of friendship with them by ensuring that neither of you would use force to annex each other would be enough help!

Get This Dream Of Crushing Your Competitors Out Of Your Mind!

A thing to be noted is that, it isn’t wrong to have profit as the end goal and it is and will be always. But you need to pave a path towards that goal. For instance, don’t consider horses on a race course in business whose main motto is to win. Consider, business as life wherein following the right way towards our goals becomes necessary for wisdom which eventually helps you win. Thus, just like life, business too yearns for a proper direction to a racing mind.

In short, a business oriented person would take all the possible aspects of the same into consideration and construct the rightful path to customer satisfaction. Love for services, customers, and way of winning their hearts becomes your prime goal. The day your mind moves from the competition and devotes to the fine tuning of your business, the day you realize the worth of business and it’s importance to you, is ensuring that you are closer to success. As long as you are subjected to myopic vision towards your business, consider it a bud that hasn’t bloomed as of yet because it awaits a broader vision from your side to bloom into a beautiful flower as it begins attracting bees towards it!

Happy Business-ing! ;)

“Competition is a good thing; it forces us to do our best.”

- Nancy Pearcey

Welcome to The Daily Buzz, Yellow Scribe’s daily writer’s blog. We're here to help with Branding, Marketing, and Building of your precious company.

Since every aspect in life has two angles, competition too can be considered in the positive as well as the negative sense. Mostly, competition is used in the negative sense which is the reason most of the businesses end on a short note. Thus, we will be learning a positive sense of this word in today’s article.

The term becomes negative when you resolve to imitating the procedures followed by your competition. As discussed in earlier articles, a business needs to stand out for which uniqueness is quintessential. Thus, blindly following the footsteps of your competition isn’t going to help. Also, focussing merely on your competition and their profits isn’t the right move because that diverts your attention from the possible surplus you could generate. In short, avoid opening up an encyclopaedia of services offered by your competition just so as to match their ability because that isn’t possible. All have different capabilities and varied ways of thinking. Perhaps you could do better than the competition and in order to believe yourself, lay aside continuous inspection of the competition.

Let us understand this better. For instance, you are a company selling electrical appliances and will of course have competition because one can’t possibly come up with a business extremely alien to all, owing to the desires of the mob. Thus, competition persists because we need to consider the needs of the population on this planet and arrange for such services that would benefit. Uniqueness must come in the way we exhibit or present those services.

Getting back to the story, you are receiving good deal traffic but are occupied in considering the competition. You’re trying to get into their good books so as to know more about their ways of introducing and presenting the services. However, while you are busy understanding your competition, you failed to comprehend over the fact that you could understand the psychology of the customers and list their desires thereby coming up with a unique form of exhibition of your services. In short, you lose access to creativity when you are busy imitating which certain businessmen term as ‘taking inspiration’. A point to be noted is, that inspiration means simply learning from the competition and coming up with your own unique form of services while imitation is looking up services provided by the competition that seem to best appeal to the mob and trying out the same! Most businessmen resort to the latter but coin their efforts as former!

Yes, there is a possibility of better inclining towards the latter because we feel that more customers would be attracted to us as well, as they do to the competition. But a point that we miss out on is, that if the customers have already tried that way out, why would they be interested in yet another company offering the same format with no particular specialty or uniqueness in its services? Also, customers remain glued to the same company for ages owing to the trust and genuineness they feel towards that brand which is the reason, they wouldn’t actually be interested in trying out a new brand with the same level of services. Why take the risk and opt for a new brand with same manner of exhibition of services when the old one does the trick? That is when uniqueness comes into the picture because your aim shouldn’t be to snatch the customers of your competition which is a tedious task and may gain no possible results. Instead, your aim should be to gain a new set of enthusiastic customers for yourself. Don’t go for Renaissance in business that is rebirth or revival of your competition. Go for something unique that people would be excited enough to try out owing to the way it functions.

Thus, competition should be taken in a positive sense. Take inspiration from them. Capture some of their bonus points that help them and develop your business with creativity on the basis of that structure. In short, use your competition as stepping stones to success! Also, competition can help you grow vividly because it helps understand updates of market trends which keep changing and are visible in your competition. By closely observing the same, you could flourish your business and step by step, move further than your competition not by imitating them but by personal creativity. The competition would neither blame you for stealing their ideas nor would you feel guilty of being a copy cat! So, be yourself and unique in business to ensure additional bonuses in the future!
